About Saigon and it's coffee

Saigon, the old name for Vietnam biggest city, nowadays is called Ho Chi Minh City. Located in the south of the country, near the Mekong-delta, is the commercial and economical heart of the country, where capital Hanoi in the north is the governmental heart.

Coffee - something for most people the day would not be complete without. A little inspiration at the beginning of the day, a small moment of joy and rest in between and relax at the end of day.

Vietnamese coffee is well known for its variety in roasting. Each region has its own style of roasting which puts its special taste and flavour to the coffee. Coffee from one plant therefore can taste completely different from city to city.

Coffee has been grown in Vietnam since it was introduced by French missionaries in the mid 19th century en two first Vietnamese coffee shops established in former Saigon since 1864 where Café Lyonnais and Café de Paris.

For Vietnamese, and especially inhabitants of Ho Chi Minh City, drinking coffee outside is to be considered the moment of relaxing after whole day working hard to struggle for their earns of living. No matter who you are and where to be served, coffee is always there and became one of the most favourite drinks for everyone in Saigon.

With the effort to develop and improve Vietnamese coffee now Vietnam can be proud to be the third biggest country  in the world which exports coffee!
